Big Shift for New Grads as Revolut Brings Office Back to Forefront
In a move that could reshape how early-career talent is recruited in fintech, Revolut has announced that interns and new graduates joining its Talent Programmes will be expected to work from an office for the majority of the workweek starting in 2027. The change, aimed at improving mentorship and hands-on learning, marks a significant turn away from the company’s long-standing emphasis on remote flexibility for newcomers.
Revolut, the London-based payment and digital banking giant, has built a reputation for remote-friendly perks. But as it tightens policies around onboarding for a new cohort, the firm says in-person collaboration will help accelerate skill development and career progression for junior employees.
Analysts say the plan aligns Revolut with a wider industry push to balance flexibility with structured training for Gen Z, a group that highly values mentorship and direct access to senior talent during the first years on the job.

This requirement will apply to cohorts that begin in 2027 and will apply specifically to those in the formal graduate and internship tracks. Compensation and duties for these roles will remain consistent with Revolut’s established programs, with an emphasis on collaboration, mentorship, and structured training.
Crucially, Revolut says this shift is limited to the entry-level tracks. Employees outside the Talent Programmes will continue to operate under the company’s remote-first framework, preserving flexibility for most of the workforce. After completing the 12-month graduate program, participants will transition to the company’s typical remote-first contracts, the firm notes.
Industry observers note that the policy creates a staged approach to in-person development: a year of on-site learning, followed by remote work in the broader team. The exact mix of in-office days beyond three remains at management's discretion, subject to regional guidelines and health considerations.
Rationale, Mentorship, and the In-Person Advantage
Revolut has defended the policy by stressing the value of face-to-face collaboration, mentorship, and faster skill-building during the crucial first steps of a financial technology career. A Revolut spokesperson said the company remains
